Introduction to "råning"

At the time of writing we're enjoying a lunch in the town of Älfsby.

We're sitting outside in the town centre. There's a slightly dirty, dark green Pontiac Trans Am that's driven past us ten times. Make that eleven times now. Every time he revs his engines a bit.

This is what's know as råning. It's the time-honoured scandinavian practice of pimping a ride, then driving it around for all to see, showing off your superior car. Never mind if it's a piece of shit, as long as it looks good.

According to Geir there are very specific rules to råning. It has to be done in an american car or a Volvo. In a pinch a BMW will also do. Engine noise is more important than engine performance. Bling is more important than substance.
